Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said after talks with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev that Serbia will try to build a gas-fired power plant with that country, which would stabilize the country’s electricity supply in the long term.
Aleksandar Vučić, who is attending the COP-29 Climate Change Summit organized by the United Nations in the Azerbaijani capital Baku, said that he and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev discussed improving cooperation, primarily in the field of energy.
“We will try to build a gas-fired power plant around Niš, because in southern Serbia we already have problems with electricity supply. We would do this together with Azerbaijan and in this way we would ensure a stable supply for Serbia for the next 12 years,” said Vučić.
He said that two questions arise in the coming period: how to secure financing for renewable energy and how to proceed with the construction of small modular nuclear reactors, regional media reported.
