The Polish energy group Polska Grupa Energetyczna (PGE) had started commercial operations of a 1,366 MW gas-fired power plant in Western Pomerania (Poland). The PGE Gryfino Dolna Odra consists of two blocks of 683 MW, each including a GE Vernova 9HA.01 gas turbine, an STF-D650 steam turbine, a W88 generator and a Once Through Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG). The project aligns with PGE Group's strategy for decarbonizing its generation assets and its quick start will provide the possibility of flexible operation to support the development of renewable energy sources. The project should generate enough energy to supply more than 3 million households in Poland. GE Vernova will manage key aspects of the project’s lifecycle, training and maintenance management for a 12-year period.

At the end of 2023, Poland had a total installed capacity of 62.3 GW, of which 46% consists of coal and lignite capacity. The country is slowly turning to gas: 1.4 GW of gas capacity have been commissioned since 2022, raising the total gas capacity to 4.7 GW at the end of 2023 and the share of gas in the power mix to 9%.

Enerdata has developed a market research service to screen, monitor and analyse the development of power generation assets.

Power Plant Tracker offers an interactive database and a powerful search engine covering power plants worldwide – including both installed and planned capacities for renewables and fossil fuels.
